Well, it was a good run; DriverMax, my favorite application to download/export drivers has now gone (almost completely) the way of the payware model, and has severely limited their free offering by presenting free users with a counter delay for downloading the driver that you need, ala RapidShare free. Not only that, but DriverMax is now only granting free users to no more than '2 driver downloads per day'.
So, if you are building up a new computer and really need drivers, guess what? It will probably take you a few days to do it with DriverMax.

The download delay I can understand, but the limiting of downloads? Hmmm. Now, don't get me wrong, I understand that not everyone can support the freeware model - but there are ways of doing things with advertisers that can keep your freeware offering afloat (case in point: Spiceworks). So a big 'WOW' from me, this was quite a surprise to me when I attempted to update a tablet PC I was working on.Overall, I have been extremely happy with DriverMax over the years, preferring it to all other driver backup and download utilities , but now it seems that we budget-conscious users must carry on and find a new solution that will bring us our drivers - Me? I'll probably move to RadarSync.
One small ray of light: DriverMax may still be a good solution for backing up and importing your drivers, so it isn't totally useless as a freeware tool...*sigh*

I just realized this the other day, setting up a PC for parents and went to my trusty drivermax down download drivers, and low and behold, got the same message. I'll keep it for backing up drivers, and It's also handy to get the driver info ya need, so you can get the driver from another site instead of Drivermax's.
As long as the driver backup is fully functional, I'm fine with it! I prefer using DriverPacks...
drivermax is now more trouble than it's worth. RadarSync here i come
I'd been using DriverMax happily for a while too until recently. I'd been updating my drivers every month or two so when they changed to only allow limited downloads I waited the few days for them to finish. However, when I went to install them Avira AnitVir started reporting a virus so I'll be trying RadarSync as well.
