New theme and functionality for CFJ

After a long time using the old 3-column theme (can't remember where I got that from now...), I've decided to mix things up a bit and install a new theme that is a little cleaner and overall, simpler to use.

I've added a few functions to the site:

  • the 'CFJ Navigator', which should give readers the ability to find out which posts are hot, editor's picks, browse the comments, etc.
  • star rating system - readers can now rate articles based on preferences
  • new comment system - this should help block against spam while making commentary a bit easier overall, especially for anonymous readers
  • Returning to the Google search bar. Seems to be quicker than the Lijit search, and I wanted to keep it as consistent as possible with regards to appearance and functionality

I'm hoping that overall, the site is easier to use, and just more effective for you to find the information that you want.

I do have some minor tweaks to take care of (bullet listings - fixed, quotes, etc.), but otherwise, it is pretty much in its final form.

Let me know what you think!

Looks nice, I like soft colors. Maybe too much white space in footer and header.

And of course sane comment form is awesome. :) Old one was driving me crazy.

I forgot to add, it looks fantastic. And I now found the comment option easy, but the thumbs elude me.

Good point - I think it's more correct to say that you like something to a lesser degree than something else, rather than saying something is 'good or bad'. I've changed it to the star rating system...

Thanks!

No, not the fact that you use stars or thumbs what is the problem, but the fact that the website says that there is one vote, but after I vote there is still one vote. It looks like that my votes are not registered? So is it my browser (Google Chrome 3) or something else?

Oh - I see. It does seem to be registering votes, as I see some posts have more than one, so I'm not sure how it knows that you specifically voted...I would give it a try in Firefox just to see if that is what makes the difference.
