Scripting resource: Microsoft Technet Script Repository to go

Microsoft TechNet Script Repository
http://snurl.com/27cy2

I realize this is old news, but the point of this blog was never to only give up the newest information, but more or less be a repository of all stuff I know of that is free (and good).

Since I am a network administrator by trade, I find myself writing lots and lots of scripts, mostly of the Visual Basic variety, mind you...So, when I need to build new scripts or I just want to find out how to do something, I will scour the 'Net looking for great ideas before I try to re-invent the wheel. Microsoft is a great resource to find the building blocks that you need to build that perfect script - in the form of Scriptomatic 2.0, Tweakomatic, and HTA Helpomatic.

...they also provide you completed scripts that you can plug into your own environment. So, thankfully, they provided us with the Portable Script Repository!

You can take the repository (in CHM format) and throw it on a flash drive and refer to it when you are in need.

Among many others, the repository features ready-made scripts for:
  • Active Directory
  • Applications
  • Desktop Management
  • Group Policy
  • Hardware
  • IIS
  • Logs
  • Messaging and Communication...
  • etc.
Each main category has multiple sub-categories to browse, and there are a LOT.

If you want to check out all the resources that Microsoft provides to you sys admins out there with a penchant for scripting and text editors get your heart rate up, then here you go:

Got any other scripting resources? Comment below and share!

For those of you who are writing PowerShell scripts: I haven't yet gotten into PS - - any good primers that I can check out?

It might be old news for network administrators and geeks, but not for people starting. So it's always great to find this kind of stuff.

Many thanks for the blog it's fantastic to read it and it's full of great information. :)

Best wishes. :O)
