Sometimes, I've found that I need to grab a screenshot to attach to a help desk ticket. Often, I can convince/teach the user how to perform a screenshot and send it in an email to me, but of course, the negative aspect is attachment size in your email system (especially if they have their display settings set to 32bit color!).
With that said, you can take control of the situation by performing a remote screenshot of a system!
From the makers of LANSweeper (freeware Network Inventory tool), LSGrab is an application that will connect to a remote computer, grab a screenshot and let you view it on your local system.
There are only two command-line switches for the console version:
- /c: specifies the computer name
- /p: specifies the path to store the screenshot
- Help desk personnel
- Security or employee monitoring
- Troubleshooting
Of course, use your administrative powers for good. Do I really need to end this with a disclaimer?
A Windows GUI version is also available for download.
There are a number of other tools available at the site (and quality ones, at that!). I definitely encourage you to check them out.
